Hard Evidence

I recently purchased a PC from a reputable salvage place online. Super cheap PC from businesses that get overhauled or liquidate. So, I get the PC on my desk and boot it up the first time and the hard drive starts to make noises like a baby-rattle. I power the box down and then discover something really interesting as I remove the drive. Written on the lid are the words: “Jill Evidence.” And though it is hard to read in this crappy image, a little yellow sticker reads: “The data on this device has been destroyed per DoD.”

Now, I’m not ignorant of the fact that the standard for data erasing is basically set by the Department of Defence. However, the chances that this drive holds some crazy space technology or war secrets have got to up there. {maybe like, 1 : 132,542,546,432} Just guessing. The drive is now a paper weight on my desk…

So, I decided that I had hacked up my Joomla install badly enough and had worked myself into a tight corner. My options included updating the install {which would destroy all the hacks I inserted in the code} or wipe it out and reinstall. I opted to wipe it out and see what this Wordpress business is all about. So far I am really impressed with their building with standards in mind! I started the install this morning and put it on hold for the better part of today and am just wrapping things up now. About 4 or 5 hours invested so far. That’s a bit better than the weeks I spent setting up Joomla {granted I am ripping off someone’s theme and style for now and when I installed Joomla, it was my first dealings with PHP….}. At any rate, I highly recommend it, even to noobs! I have a LOT of tweaks such before the transition is complete, but for one day am I satisfied.

Until next time,

peace, Phillip

—btw: The site is not complete yet, so check back soon to see the final product. K?
